The IELTS Speaking test is a face-to-face interview designed to assess your spoken English skills. It lasts 11–14 minutes and includes three parts. This section is the same for both Academic and General Training candidates.
General questions about yourself, your home, work/study, hobbies, etc.
Example:
“Do you work or study?”
“What kind of music do you enjoy?”
You’ll receive a cue card and have 1 minute to prepare.
Then, you must speak for 1–2 minutes on the topic.

Deeper discussion related to Part 2 topic.
More abstract questions to test your ability to express opinions, analyze, compare, etc.
Example:
“Why do people enjoy traveling?”
“Do you think travel helps us understand other cultures?”
Practice Speaking Daily – Talk aloud about random topics or current events.
Don’t Memorize Answers – Use flexible templates, but speak naturally.
Use Fillers Wisely – Phrases like “Let me think…” or “That’s a great question…” help buy time naturally.
Expand Your Answers – Don’t just say “yes” or “no.” Always explain why.
Correct Yourself Confidently – It’s okay to rephrase if you make a mistake.
Use Linking Words – Use phrases like “in addition,” “on the other hand,” “for instance.”
Record Yourself – Compare with sample band answers to improve pronunciation and fluency.

A: Yes, I do. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies because it helps me relax and explore new ideas. I especially enjoy fiction novels and self-help books.
Describe a person who inspired you.
You should say:
Who the person is
How you know them
What they do
And explain why they inspire you
